Action Item
The board voted to name the new school opening in the Riverfront area Olene Walker Elementary School in recognition of the state’s first female governor. The school will open fall 2020 and will replace Roosevelt Elementary.
Public Hearings & Action
Steve Hogan, Director of Planning & Boundaries presented recommended solutions from the Population Analysis Committee for three current study areas:
Jackling/Sandburg/Hunter Study – After the presentation the board opened to the meeting to public comment. One member of the public provided comment. Following public comment time the board voted to close Carl Sandburg Elementary as recommended by the Population Analysis Committee and adjust boundaries accordingly as outlined in the presentation above. This will also leave Sandburg Elementary on the Phase I bond rebuild list for the time being.
Bangerter Corridor South Study –After the presentation the board opened to the meeting to public comment. Five members of the public provided comments. Following public comment time the board voted to close Westbrook Elementary as recommended by the Population Analysis Committee and adjust boundaries accordingly as outlined in the presentation above.
Roosevelt/Riverfront Study –After the presentation the board opened to the meeting to public comment. One member of the public provided comment. Following public comment time the board voted to adjust boundaries for Olene Walker (Roosevelt), Mill Creek, Granger, and Rolling Meadows elementary schools as outlined in the presentation above.
