On December 7, 2023, Cottonwood High student Elliott Payne realized a fire had started in the school’s auditorium. Elliott raced to a fire extinguisher and tackled the flames, preventing the fire from spreading. Elliott was honored by the Murray City Fire Department and Cottonwood High School for his heroic actions.
