Teacher Recruiting and Requirements
Each year we are in need of licensed elementary teachers that speak Chinese, French, or Spanish fluently to teach in the Dual Immersion programs. If you are a teacher that speaks one of these languages fluently and you are interested in learning more about this program, please contact Sheri Sorensen, Kerrie Neu, Emmanuel Collins-Peynaud, Yu Jayne Young, Liping Zheng, or Sharon Gracia.
All positions are posted on the Granite District Employment page. You must submit an application online to Granite District before you can be considered.
What are the requirements to be a dual immersion teacher?
Currently to teach in a dual immersion program you must have the following requirements:
- Current Utah Educator License For 2-teacher model programs a Secondary or Elementary license is acceptable. For 1-teacher programs, the teacher must have an Elementary license. For more information please see Utah State Board of Education Educator Licensing.
- World Language Endorsement Please visit the Utah State Board of Education site for more information about how to obtain a World Language Endorsement.
- Dual Immersion Endorsement Please visit the Utah State Board of Education site for more information about how to obtain a Dual Immersion Endorsement.
Resources
- Foundations of Dual Language Immersion Course (EDUC 5700) This course is required for the Dual Language Immersion Endorsement and can count for a course requirement in the World Languages Endorsement. Granite School District, in conjunction with Utah Valley University, typically offers this course in the summer for teachers in an intensive format.
