TumbleBooks is an easy-to-use online database with hundreds of media-rich electronic books for children. Their selections include story books, nonfiction, graphic novels, chapter books, and foreign language books. TumbleBooks is provided to Salt Lake County residents for home use (including all students and parents in Granite School District) thanks to the Salt Lake County Public Library System.
Books can be read online directly in the browser, and almost all of their books include an interactive “read-along” feature which will play audio readings of the book with animated renderings of the illustrations, highlighting the words on the screen as they are spoken by the reader.
The Salt Lake County Library provides a subscription to TumbleBooks for their patrons, which includes home use for all students and parents in Granite School District. You can access TumbleBooks by visiting the Salt Lake County Library website, hovering your mouse over the Kids Zone menu and clicking on the TumbleBooks option.
You can also try out a TumbleBook right now by clicking on this TumbleBook of the Day widget. This widget will update with a new free title each day.
Along with Granite’s OverDrive Digital Library, the Sync free audio book program, and the many resources provided by the Salt Lake County Libraries and the Salt Lake City Public Libary, TumbleBooks is yet another great option for summer reading available to students and parents.
