The Smithsonian Learning Lab (https://learninglab.si.edu/) is a new visual search and curation tool that makes it simple for students and teachers to explore the vast digital collections and resources of the museums and research centers of the Smithsonian Institute.
In addition to discovery, the learning lab provides a platform for users to create and share custom collections of resources. Items and collections can be shared to students within the platform or easily linked out to other services such as learning management systems and social media channels.
To get started, simply search for a term of interest. Search results are displayed as tiled images.
Each resource includes detailed information and metadata, and can be linked, shared, or downloaded.
Users who have set up an account can also create and add resources to Learning Lab Collections. Users can customize the resources in a collection by adding notes, image hotspots, and quiz questions. Users can also upload their own resources to a collection. The platform has a growing library of these collections, some created by Smithsonian specialists, and others by teacher and student users. You can utilize these collections as-is or copy and modify them to meet your learning objectives.
