Did you know that there is a video editor already installed and available on all PCs with the Windows 10 operating system? It is found in the Photos app, and although a slightly hidden feature it is very functional and simple to use. It includes all the video editing basics you would expect, as well as inking and animated special effect options that students and teachers can use to quickly polish or spice up a video.
Creating Video
To get started with a new video project:
- Open the Start Menu on your Windows 10 PC and find the Photos app by either typing ‘photos’ or browsing the alphabetical menu of programs
- In the Photos app, click on New Video > New Video Project to get started with a blank video project
You can import photos or video clips into the project library from your computer or a connected device (camera or phone) and add them to your storyboard.
Editing options include splitting and trimming clips, rotating and zooming, adding text or 3D animation effects, drawing/inking on the video, and applying various filters and themes to the video.
You can save your video project as a standard MP4 file to your computer and then share it on any platform.

Author’s note: I made the inspiring video below in mere moments with only a PC laptop’s built-in camera and the Photos app.
