Each school in Granite School District has either an assigned Technology Coach or Library Technology Coach. (The STS and LMETS titles were recently changed to reflect their role in supporting teachers and students with the use of technology to enhance learning.)
Technology Coach (Elementary)
Technology Coaches are either assigned to one school or share their time between two schools. Technology Coaches address technology work order needs as the frontline support and escalate issues as needed. Each Technology Coach has been a classroom teacher, with many of them having their Educational Technology Endorsement. They work with the staff and students at their schools to effectively use technology with students to Engage them in learning, Enhance learning with options that aren’t possible without the use of technology, and Extend learning in ways that relate to the student’s real world.
Library Technology Coach (Secondary)
Library Technology Coaches are assigned full time to a junior high or high school. A Library Technology Coach oversees the school’s day to day operation of the library, as well as coaching in the effective educational integration of technology and information literacy. Many of them also serve as the frontline tech support, while some secondary schools have another person assigned to that task. They work with the staff and students at their schools to effectively use technology with students to Engage them in learning, Enhance learning with options that aren’t possible without the use of technology, and Extend learning in ways that relate to the student’s real world.
