Coming in September 2018, all teachers in Granite School District will receive an updated and expanded set of Technology Integration Progress (TIP) Cards!

These cards provide teachers with a handy collection of quick help guides for a range of classroom technology tools and digital resources, as well as tips and ideas for new ways of using these tools and resources with students. Short URLs on the cards link teachers to a full menu of tutorials and other resources. In the 2017-2018 school year, students and staff in Granite School District checked out nearly 1.7 million items from school libraries. Just as last year, we’ve compiled and analyzed this circulation data to determine the most popular book titles in the district, both overall and among new books published in 2017-2018. Every year for the past several years, students at Valley Crest Elementary engage in a bookmark design contest to encourage reading. The winning bookmarks are printed and distributed to students in the school. Jenny Wadsworth, media clerk at Valley Crest Elementary, agreed that more people should have the chance to see these cute bookmarks, and she kindly shared them with us to share with you.

This summer we say goodbye to several members of our team, while also looking forward to welcoming new additions to our technology specialist roster for the 2018-2019 school year.
Warren Child, Library Media Educational Technology Specialist at Cyprus High School, who leaves us for retirement.
Colleen Hughes, Administrative Secretary in the Educational Technology office, who leaves us to pursue a new opportunity in another industry.
Tiffany Peoples, School Technology Specialist at Mill Creek Elementary and Sandburg Elementary, who has accepted a classroom teaching opportunity at Fox Hills Elementary.
Jayanne Unander, School Technology Specialist at Pleasant Green Elementary and one of our ETEP Trainers/Developers, who leaves us for retirement.
We wish each of you the best in your new endeavors and will miss your friendship and expertise.
Tricia Fenton, our School Technology Specialist at Vista Elementary and Western Hills Elementary, will be moving into the Library Media Educational Technology Specialist position at Cyprus High School in the 2018-2019 year. Congratulations!
We welcome three new elementary school technology specialists to our roster in the coming year:
Kailie Nelson, coming to us from a 4th Grade classroom at Fox Hills Elementary.
Rebecca Vala, coming to us from a 4th Grade classroom at Spring Lane Elementary.
Margaret Yau, coming to us from a 4th Grade classroom at the Montlieu Academy of Technology in High Point, North Carolina.

Library staff from Granite’s 63 elementary schools gathered last week for an end-of-year training meeting. In one of the sessions, each media clerk shared a “must-have” title for students at their library, or a favorite book to read aloud or book talk from the 2017-2018 school year.
