Our school libraries provide students with access to books, technology, and other materials for in-classroom use as well as for personal reading, research, and enrichment beyond the classroom. We further provide students district-wide with access to digital resources (including ebooks, audiobooks, videos, databases, and curated web resources) through tools such as OverDrive Digital Library, SAFARI Montage, and the Resources section of this web site and the Granite Media web site.
At the district level we provide professional development and library management support for school library staff. School library staff members provide training and resource support, working directly with students and teachers. Our elementary school libraries are staffed by Elementary Media Assistants, while our secondary school libraries are staffed by Library Media Educational Technology Specialists and Library Media Teachers who are supported by Media Assistants or Media Secretaries.
Granite Media (http://granitemedia.org) is the website and blog for the library media program. It provides professional development resources and library management instructions for school library staff members, digital resources for teachers and students, book reviews of current children’s and young adult literature written by librarians, teachers, and students, as well as news of school and community library programming.
