Fundraisers

Applications for the 2024-2025 school year are now being accepted for review.

As part of our district fundraising policy and procedures and to comply with Utah Code Annotated §13-22 Charitable Solicitation Act and Utah Administrative Code R152-22, all vendors are now required to utilize the following application process prior to the fundraiser being utilized within our schools. Please complete the following application process. You will be notified upon successful admission and approval. If you have any questions, please email Jared Gardner.

** Please note that fundraising activities where a student group performs a service in return for a wage is classified differently than typical fundraising. Vendors in this category do not need to submit an application, but will work directly with the school. **

Your application will be rejected if the permit, commercial co-venturer letter, or letter of exemption is not attached or if the submitted permit has expired.

Agreements

These agreements are part of the Granite School District’s fundraising policy. Violation of these assurances will remove you as a district-approved fundraising partner.

Fundraising Partner Agreement*

To be considered for approval, all conditions must be checked.

Vendor meets the requirements of the Charitable Solicitations Act (see Utah Code 13-22-1 et seq.). Utah Permit Application

Vendor agrees to maintain confidentiality and secure all personally identifiable student information solely for the purpose of completing transactions associated with the fundraiser and to provide fundraiser accountability. Such information shall not be stored, shared, or used for any other purposes (e.g. compilation of mailing lists, contact lists, marketing contacts, etc.) and shall be destroyed after its intended use.

Vendor agrees to maintain confidentiality and secure all personal information of those solicited by District students in student fundraising efforts and such information shall be afforded the same protections as outlined in the proceeding section unless alternate use is expressly authorized by the individuals.

The fundraising activities will not involve communication, advertising, and/or depictions of tobacco or alcoholic products, or any other material or product that may not legally be used by school age children or is otherwise not in compliance with the state, District, or school rules; that may be harmful to the health and welfare of students; that may exploit or create undue intrusion into the classroom or home; that would detract from or interfere with student learning; that would conflict with the educational mission of the District; or that would commercialize or damage the image of the District or the school(s).

Any vendor or other individual or entity applying for approval to become a fundraising partner (Partner Organization) with Granite School District (District) or its schools to engage fundraising or revenue generating activities, must provide to the District for review all terms and conditions, regardless of the form, that purport to bind or control the District or its employees, officers, or agents. Failure to provide such documents for review will result in denial of approval, immediate revocation of prior approval, and/or denial of subsequent or future approval. In the event there exists a conflict between the District’s terms and conditions and any terms and conditions of the Partner Organization in any form, the terms and conditions of the District shall take precedence. Any provision attempting to limit the liability of Partner Organization or limit the rights of the District must be in writing and specifically approved by the District.

This document, all of the information submitted by the vendor for approval, and the approval notice from the District will constitute the contract between the District and the Partner Organization as required Utah Code Annotated §13-22-17.

The term of the resulting contract will be for a period to not exceed 1 year with all contracts expiring June 30, 2025.

No additional documents may added to or considered as a part of our contract if not approved within this contract. If the District finds that additional documents were introduced to schools that were not approved with the contract, the contract may be canceled without notice to Partner Organization.

The scope of this contract will allow for the Partner Organization to present its fundraising services to all schools within the Granite School District. The contract does not include parent teacher associations or other entities which are separate entities from the District.

The submittal of this application constitutes your digital signature that the information is correct and legally binding. The return approval email from the district constitutes the District’s digital signature to form the contract.

Limitations and Prohibitions*

To be considered for approval, all conditions must be checked.

Students shall not be required to solicit door-to-door for school-sponsored student fundraisers.

Student fundraising shall not impose sales quotas on students, nor shall schools enter into contractual commitments to sell specific numbers of items or service units. Students shall not be required to pay for any unsold items that are returned to the school.

Elementary school administrators shall not approve school-sponsored fundraising activities that require pre-purchasing product inventory or service units for resale. Secondary schools shall exercise caution with regard to the same.

No rewards or prizes shall be offered to students, teams, clubs, classes, or programs in association with a student fundraising activity unless specifically approved by the fiscal administrator.

School-sponsored student fundraisers cannot require students to submit the personal information of other people, and students shall not be used to develop mailing or contact lists for any commercial or fundraising organization.

Lotteries, raffles, or drawings in which nothing of value is provided in exchange for the cost of an opportunity to win something of value are illegal in Utah and are therefore not allowed as a student fundraising activity.

Schools may not sponsor or co-sponsor fundraising events with the intended or unintended effect of offering an undue advantage to any outside entity or otherwise circumventing District policies or state laws regarding facility rentals, donations, booster clubs, access to students, etc. For example, an individual or entity shall not be allowed to profit commercially by promising a donation or a portion of event proceeds to a team, club, class, or program in exchange for free or reduced-rate use of facilities, work performed by students or District personnel, or some other advantage gained by using a public facility.
